TASSEP
The Trans-Atlantic Science Student Exchange Program

USAUniversity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is the oldest state university in the US (the universities of Virginia and Georgia make the same claim).

It is located in Chapel Hill, which is part of the Research Triangle consisting of several Universities and the research park which is home to many research laboratories of US and international companies such as Glaxo Smith Kline, the US Environmental Protection Agency, etc. Chapel Hill is a small, but lively university town with a population of about 60,000 plus 25,000 students, with abundant diversions and activities ranging from sports, to theater, to music,... The triangle region is served by the Raleigh Durham (RDU) airport. The University includes Arts and Sciences, a School of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, as well as a Medical school, Schools of Law, Nursing, Business, and Public Health. However, UNC does not have a standard engineering school (it is located at NC State University in Raleigh). TASSEP students can take courses in any department (expect perhaps Business where they limit the courses enrollment to Business majors). Most EU students live in university dormitories. However, it is also possible to live in rented apartments.
