Sorbonne University is a multidisciplinary, research-intensive, world-class university. Located in the heart of Paris, with a regional presence, it is committed to the success of its students and to meeting the scientific challenges of the 21st century. Through the strength of its 55,000 students, 7,300 academic researchers and partner researchers, and 3,900 administrative and technical staff, Sorbonne University promotes diversity, creativity, innovation and openness to the world. Ranked 46th in the 2023 Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities and 11th in Europe, it stands for French excellence.

The Faculty of Science and Engineering drives this ambition by relying on its teaching and research teams' activities to define its scientific policy, guide its partnerships, promote its innovations and structure the training it provides. It aims to educate professionals who will be the driving force in fundamental research and technological innovation in Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Engineering and Computer Science, Life Sciences, Mathematics, and Physics.

In total, the Faculty hosts over 22,000 students, of which 20% are international, and 2,500 doctorate candidates. More than 5,000 researchers and professors work in 72 disciplinary and cross-disicplinary laboratories.

The Faculty of Science and Engineering offers more than 25 graduate study programmes taught entirely in English, as well as programmes conducted in both English and French. In addition, there are other courses taught in English outside of these programmes, at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
